Consider Joining the KDSC Board! The Kelowna & District Safety Council is inviting members of the community to submit their name for consideration as a Board Member starting March 29, 2012. Up to three Board Member positions are currently available. The Kelowna & District Safety Council is a non-profit organization that promotes safety training and awareness in order to reduce the incidence of bodily injury and death as well as damage to property. KDSC operates the Little Travellers' Safety Village for children as well as an ICBC-certified Motorcycle and Driver Training School. KDSC strives to set the highest standards of professional training that is available. "We're looking for people who are passionate about safety and who are interested in serving their community and making it a safer place in which to live, work, and play," says Gray Mills, KDSC Board President. "We also want people to can bring ideas to our Board about how to enhance our programs and prepare for growth, while continuing to set the highest standards of professional training that is available." Interested applicants should have previous Board or committee experience, understand the purpose and nature of our programs, and bring an enthusiastic yet practical approach to the challenges and opportunities facing non-profits. Applicants must also commit to attending monthly Board meetings, as well as additional sub-committee meetings as needed. Board members are an important part of the society's operation and provide input on a variety of areas including policy development, fund development, programming, and marketing.
