Swimming is a lifelong activity that develops strength, cardiovascular fitness, and endurance. As Stronger Swimmers are Safer Swimmers, we’re encouraging you to offer the Mile Swim Awards program within your community.

Program Parameters
Although the main focus of this program is swimmers up to 18 years of age, anyone who wants to participate in this program is welcome!

The following badges and certificates are available for qualifying swimmers:
o Gold – for swimmers who complete the Mile Swim in under 25 minutes;
o Silver – for swimmers who complete the Mile Swim in under 35 minutes;
o Bronze – for swimmers who complete the Mile Swim in under 45 minutes.

Participant Certificates are available for any swimmer who completes the Mile Swim, but whose time does not qualify for a Gold/Silver/Bronze placing.

Each swim must be monitored and timed by an Examiner (any adult at least 19 years of age, who is either a swim instructor or examiner or coach, or who is an official representative of a swim club or of a swimming facility). For the purposes of this program, a mile shall be considered 1600 metres.
