The Kelowna and District Safety Council (KDSC) is a not-for-profit charitable organization dedicated to promoting safety awareness and injury prevention within Kelowna and the surrounding communities. KDSC has been an important force in educating the public about a variety of safety issues since 1980, and has long cooperated with other organizations with similar goals in an effort to reduce injuries.

Contributions from donors and corporate supporters enable KDSC to deliver a wide variety of high quality safety programs. Tax receipts are available for donations $10.00 and over.

The Kelowna and District Safety Council serves the community in general, and its two main programs reach out to a very diverse audience. KDSC is continuing to expand its programs in order to serve an even larger portion of the city’s population.

The LTSV programs are geared to children aged 3 to 8, and are wildly popular with all 4500 children who visit the Village annually. Parents, grandparents, and teachers accompany these children to the Village, and greatly appreciate the value of these safety classes and are thankful for such a facility in the community.

Over 250 students participate in KDSC’s Motorcycle Training Programs every year. Our students range in age from 16 to 78, and approximately 60% are female. Although some students have been riding for many years and are looking for safety refresher courses, most of our students are new to the sport of motorcycling and have yet to purchase a bike and gear.

Although most of the people who participate in KDSC’s programs are from the Kelowna area, schools from as far away as Penticton and Enderby visit the Little Travellers’ Safety Village. On average, approximately 48% of the participants in the Motorcycle Training Program are from the Kelowna area; 29% are from the Vernon area, 11% are from the Penticton area, and 12% are from as far away as Kamloops, Princeton, Grand Forks, Revelstoke, Williams Lake, and Prince George.

In addition to the knowledge that you and your company will be supporting the only organization of its kind outside of the Lower Mainland of BC, your business will receive the benefit of being associated with a growing, community-minded charitable Society. KDSC serves a wide variety of Okanagan residents, and being seen as an active supporter of such an organization will bring your company invaluable good will and public support. The loyalty that our patrons feel towards KDSC is transferred to our sponsors when our customers become yours.

Sponsors often receive media attention (radio, newspaper, television) as they are mentioned in articles and interviews connected to their sponsored program. KDSC’s strong relationship with members of the local media can bring your business additional publicity that reaches a segment of the population that is even greater than those who participate directly in KDSC’s activities.
